Mr. Aason yang
& Ms. Anita Yang
Brookline, Massachusetts 02446

Dear Aaron & Anita,

When I met with your very brave mother last week at a meeting in Newton to press for more freedom for the people of China, I asked her premission to write to you and she very graciously gave it to me. The reason I wanted to do that was to tell you how much I admire your father, who is a hero to me and many, many other people, both in the Congress and outside.

I am very sorry for the unfair way he is being treated by the Chinese government, and for a courageous man who is so willing to fight for the freedom of others to be put in jail is outrageous. This mistreatment of your father is a bad mark against the reputation of the government of China, not of your father.

I and other Members of Congress are continuing to work hard to press the Chinese government to let him come home to you. I know how difficult it is for you and for your mother to be separated from him, and I know that it is just as hard on him as it is on you for him to be kept from you. I promise you that I will continue to do everything I can to obtain the release of your father so that your wonderful family can be together again. You have a right to be very proud of him.
