He has been denied contact with a lawyer and with his family members who reside in Brookline, Massachusetts. For additional information on his background, please see the following Web site: www.supportjianli.org.Recently, a bipartisan group of 12 members of the House of Representatives introduced a resolution calling for his immediate and unconditional release. This resolution, H.Res199, specifically cites Dr. Yang’s being subjected to a denial of basic human rights, including no access to legal counsel or contact with his wife and children. It condemns his prolonged detention and calls upon Congress and the president of the United States to demand a response from the Government of the People’s Republic of China.
