Answer from the Press Desk of the State Council of China to New York TimesBased on a phone conversation with New York Times in Beijing February 13, 2003 Yang Jianli, illegally entering China with another person's passport, has violated the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China. Upon the approval of Beijing Municipal Procurator Division II, the Beijing Public Security Bureau has arrested Yang and, in accordance with the legal procudure, informed his relatives in China. In the process of interogation, Yang was found to be suspect of other criminal activities. The Judicial Bureau is now carrying on further invetigation on him in accordance with the law. -------------------------- |
