Letter Writing to Dr. Yang Jianli in son's elementary school - Brookline Driscoll School

Support Group

Feb. 3, 2005

Parents at Brookline Driscoll School will launch their first letter writing campaign for Dr. Yang Jianli on February 8, 2005. The following appeared in the school weekly bulletin and was sent to every family in the school. His wife and family have received tremendous moral support and concrete help from the school teachers, parents and students. The family deeply appreciated all their compassion, thoughts, time and efforts in making the life of each member easier and happier in this difficult time.

Dr. Yang Jianli, 41, has been imprisoned in China for almost three years. Two weeks ago his wife and son were finally able to visit him and discovered he had not recovered from his July stroke. His family is seeking a medical parole for him. We are organizing a writing campaign to lift his spirits and demonstrate to the authorities that there are people world-wide taking notice of how he is treated. Addressed and stamped postcards will be at a writing table in the Cafeteria during drop-off and pick-up Tuesday, Feb. 8. Please stop by and write a quick note.
